✨There is a retainer fee of $100 due at time of booking for photographers time + to reserve your session date. This amount is credited towards your session total and is transferable if needs to be rescheduled but not-refundable ✨
What to expect after your session
While you are busy telling others about how much fun you had during your session and about how you are looking forward to the awesome moments captured, I will be hard at work transforming your images from ordinary to exceptional. I don't just throw a filter on your images and call it a day; instead, I look at images individually and hand edit them to enhance details, enrich colors, and create a cohesive gallery of images for you. Sessions typically render 40+ images (depending on cooperation of subjects of coarse).
After approximately 7-14 days I will contact you to let you know that your "proof images" are ready. We will then schedule a time for a portrait ordering appointment where we will sit down together to review your gallery, choose which images you want, as well as give you the opportunity to share if there is anything you'd like corrected in specific photos before I order your products. I offer this complimentary service because I have found that 9 times out of 10 clients do not order products for themselves either because they feel overwhelmed or simply don't have the time. In addition to portrait products, you also receive a print release with high-resolution digital images so you can also order any products for yourself later down the road if you choose. You also receive web-sized files of your images for sharing on social media platforms.
The complimentary product ordering service alone is valued way more than the prices I charge which is what I feel makes me stand out amongst other photographers in my area. To go a step further a "print credit" is rolled into each package I offer and applies to your portrait products. I have a trusted professional printing company I order products from so you can rest assured you will get high-quality, amazing products that stand the test of time. What if I have a large, extended family?
We can definitely do larger families (you plus your extended family) like grandparents, cousins, etc.
For groups of 7 to 10 (additional $18 per person)
11 or more (additional $15 per person)
What do I wear?
We will have a consultation to discuss this and you will also receive a wardrobe style guide. Here are a few easy tips to get you started. Choose two to three colors at the most (stick with a color family instead of all the same color). Start with one person's outfit (usually mom first since she will be the one to wear the print more likely) then move onto the next person's outfit. Avoid competing prints and loud distracting patterns and logos. Blue jeans are a timeless look and will always be in style. Most importantly, choose comfortable clothing and look like you, just a little more polished.
What is the purpose of a consultation?
It's important to have a conversation before the session to talk about your vision and expectations for the session. It helps to inform the creative process and establishes a level of comfort for your family before you even step in front of the lens. Consultations can be either via phone or zoom.
Do I get a print release?
Yes. A print release gives you the right to order portrait products on your own but I urge you to do so with caution. The problem with most commercial printing companies like Walgreens, etc is that your image quality is likely to suffer and color discrepancies can occur. What makes Jessica Lau Photography stand out amongst other photographers is that I order products for you that are high-quality, look amazing, and will be hand delivered if you live locally.
